Tips that could save you thousands in 2021!

Hey, all you Northern Michiganders on Medicare! It’s Sara Hornick with Hudson Wealth Management in Traverse City, and today I’m going to start going over some of the top tips that I have, for dealing with Medicare 2021 Plans and saving you on your out-of-pocket costs.

Now you may have figured out a few things over the years, as to how to help yourself save on your out-of-pocket costs. You may review your Medicare Supplemental Plans and make sure you are not paying too much. You may get onto Medicare.gov and go over all of the Prescription options that are available to you.

Well today, I am going to share a tip with you, for those of you who have some pretty expensive prescriptions. On how you might get some more savings on those prescriptions! Because I’ll tell you, I have been doing this for a long time, and the majority of the angst that people have, or their frustration is that they take some pretty expensive prescriptions, and none on the Part-D plans do very much to cover them. So, they end up paying quite a bit of money out of pocket.

However, most of those prescriptions are lifesaving drugs. They are blood thinners so that people do not have a stroke. Insulin so that people do not go into a diabetic coma. Or Advair inhalers, you kind of have to breathe, that is an important part of life don’t you think? So, if you are on any of those prescriptions that are expensive, this should help you! This could possibly help you save a little bit more.

So, what is this big tip for Medicare 2021 plans?!

Well, did you know that if you’re taking some of these expensive prescriptions like Eliquis, Xarelto, Januvia, Advair, or Symbicort, any of those scripts that just cost a lot of money, you CAN see if the actual pharmaceutical companies will help you cover some of those costs! You can do this, and it’s pretty easy to figure out whether or not you can get the savings.

What you are going to want to do, is you are going to want to get onto Medicare.gov. Now, you see there is a screenshot there of Medicare.gov where it is talking about the pharmaceutical assistance programs for the drugs that you take. That website was a little small so I enlarged it for you there, so that you can see what you need to put into your web browser. Put that address into your web browser, and once you do that it is going to bring you to this page where you can type in the prescription that you are paying a lot of money for. Once you do that, it is going to bring up the pharmaceutical company and the available benefits.

For Example:

Medicare 2021 Plans prescriptions So for example, in this instance, we are talking about Xarelto, it is offered by Johnson & Johnson. It is going to tell you the benefits that are available, your eligibility because you do have to fall into certain requirements in order to be able to participate. However, they are not really that stringent. I have a lot of clients who I have been able to help by showing them this information. It also gives you the contact details, where you can fill out an application online, or you can print one out and send it in, or you can call 1-800 number. Somebody who works for that company will help bring you through that process.

Why should I do this?

Now I have seen people go from spending hundreds of even thousands of dollars a year, get those lifesaving prescriptions through grants with pharmaceutical companies for ZERO dollars! It is, if you are taking some of these expensive prescriptions, it is a great idea to carve out a little bit of time for yourself, to see if calling could save you a big amount of money. Then, when that happens you can go back to just really enjoying your retirement! That is what you are supposed to be doing right! You are supposed to be having a great time, out on the beach with your friends, and not having to worry about where you are going to come up with the money to pay for your medication.

If you would like to have a free Medicare review, you can go ahead and give us a call, we have tons of agents on staff who are ready and willing to help you find the best coverage for your premium dollar. Or help you with any other questions that you have about retirement. So until I see you next time! Have a great day!
